San Francisco Firefighter's Toy Program
|
The San Francisco Firefighter's 2008 Christmas Toy Drive is now done. Thank you to everyone who has has done or given something in previous years! Every bit helped! There is a rumor of a busload of College students showing up at a Sunset District Firehouse with so many toys that they pushed the Officer out of his office, in order to make room for the toys! I hear that the students are planning to DOUBLE the event next year! Very Impressive! Officers, be warned! Those college kids may be up to their old toy-giving tricks AGAIN!

The Webmaster would like to remind you that the toy program continues all year long, to bring a bit of hope to children who are victims of Fire, Violence, Crime and other life violating Emergencies.. They see and deal with things most people can't even IMAGINE - every day! If you can spare a toy - any day of any week - San Francisco Fire Fighters will make sure it falls into the right hands! ANY San Francisco Firehouse will be happy to accept your gift. Year round!
|
| The San Francisco Firefighter's Toy Program began 60 years ago, (1949) with some Firefighters repairing discarded toys in order to give them to 15 poor children of the City. Today, the tradition still carries on - bigger than ever - with Firefighters, Retired Firefighters, their Families and Friends, working and donating time, money and toys toward making every child's Christmas a happy one. In 2008, we made use of over 350 Firefighters, volunteers and friends to distribute over 200,000 toys to more than 40,000 disadvantaged children. Remember, no matter what one may think about people in unfortunate circumstances, there is one thing everyone can agree on: It's not the children's fault! | | If you are planning a Holiday party, why not consider a "TOY" party? The toys you collect can be brought to ANY San Francisco Firehouse, and what better way to meet and greet SAN FRANCISCO'S BRAVEST? | | Did you know that the Program operates year round? It does, bringing toys for sick children as well as those displaced from their homes by fire, abuse or other catastrophie. | | | | | Call the volunteers at the Firefighter's Toy Program! They will bring a toy collection barrel to your holiday business event or party, and SFFD Firefighters (on their own time) will show up to accept your donations! To arrange a toy barrel for your event call: 415-777-0440. If you would like to host a barrel at your business, call 415-777-0440. The year round phone number is 415-558-3555. | | This is an unofficial site, not maintained by the SFFD, SFFD Firefighters, nor their representatives. It is donated and maintained by the "Gear Wizard", Bill Cereske, at www.SFFDGear.com, and they seem inclined to have me maintain it for now. If something here displeases you, kindly blame me, not the program. If the Toy Program wants this site for itself, it will belong to them in a heartbeat. This name and site was registered and is maintained for the benefit of the program and not for a cent of profit. |

Take some action! To send a few dollars, send it to: SF Firefighter's Toy Program, 1139 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA 94104 (That's the Union office, and I'm assured that every dollar gets to the program). To bring a toy: ANY San Francisco Firehouse or 1300 4th Street (at 3rd). (Ground zero, if you will). Donate your toy there then ask "Do you need some help"? Chances are, you will work for several of the best hours of your life. If you have the brass to do this, trust the Webmaster on this one. You'll be back for the duty. Please bring your toys UNWRAPPED. It's just a fact of life nowadays. And please accept our deepest thanks for any donation of any size. 100% goes to toys for the children.
